So ive finally gotten my car back on the road. Been driving it the last 2 days. Heres the issue:

Before i pulled the engine and did the front/top 60k the car ran fine. But when you push in the clutch when say your rolling to a stop sign. The RPMS drop at a normal rate but instead of stopping at 800 or 1000rpm it either drops down to 500rpm, stumbles and comes back up to 800, or it'd die completely. Now that ive replaced close to every sensor and gasket (short of H/E) in this engine its still doing it. No check engine light. Any ideas what could cause this?

Also my DIS is grounded straight to the battery right now. it wouldnt start otherwise. I did a search and it said the bottom two bolts ground it. If theres missing brackets or bolts on the intake will it fail to ground? Not sure if this would make a difference but i also painted the intake, I did not paint where the DIS mounts but everything else was.

Thanks guys!

I think you need to perform the idle reset to get the car to idle right. after the battery is disconnected, the pcm needs to 'learn' to control the idle. you do this by disconnecting the battery for at least a minute (although on some cars it can take a couple of hours) and reconnect the battery. start the car and let it idle for at least 5 minutes, with every accessory turned on - radio, a/c, headlights, etc. After 5 minutes, shut off the engine. then start it and drive normally. this should have reset the idle and it should idle properly. if that doesn't work, then you should replace the iac.

The DIS grounds through the end tank to the engine. The bolts (two of them) shown in yellow below are critical for that ground. The other part of the DIS ground path is the ground strap on the back of the engine that goes to body ground. If either the bolts or the strap are missing, the car may not start.

As for idle, the idle speed is set and managed by the PCM. Do not use the screw on the throttle body to try to set idle speed; that is not its purpose. Make sure the throttle body is spotlessly clean, especially where the throttle plate meets the housing at idle. Then, try the idle reset procedure, which you can find be a forum search. If that does not fix the problem, then it's possible the screw was messed with and you need to setup the base idle. A shortcut is to turn the throttle body screw 1/6-1/8 turn in the direction that opens the throttle plate. If the idle problem improves, then go through the base idle setup procedure.
