2016 SHO owner as well as a NHRA 2001 Bullitt Edition Mustang trailer queen. (8.6 @ 160 1/4 mile) 2016 Z06 Vette (Wife's Car!) 2006 F250. I'm the original owner of the SHO that is now at 60K. So I'm here to see what maintenance I may need to do in the near future. It's been a problem free car so far I state as I know on wood. I have a fully stocked garage including a two post lift, so I'll likely do any work myself. Unless I just get lazy and dump it at the dealer.

Thanks for that information. I, as you see, have plenty of performance cars. My thing with this one is reliability. It appears my top priority is the PTO oil first, then the transmission oil. I use mobile one when the car asks for an engine oil change. But my main concern was Ford says to change the timing chain/belt at 60K miles. Is that really necessary at that mileage? Seems like an excessively short interval. And if there is a problem with it, are there symptoms such as timing codes sets or noise? Mine has no symptoms of it needing replacing at this point. But I DARN sure don't want any PTV contact caused by a valve timing issue!

Yep it is a sickness. Yes change the PTU fluid. It is not lifetime and turns into sludge. I recommend Redline Lightweight Shock Proof for the PTU and RDU (Read Drive Unit). As for oil, there are numerous oil fights on every forum. I personally used Castrol Edge (in the gold bottle) with either a K&N or Motorcraft oil filter in my SHO and my Focus ST. I changed the oil every 3k in the SHO and 5k in the Focus ST. After watching alot of this guys videos https://www.youtube.com/@themotoroilgeek I switched over to Pennzoil Platinum Plus in my FOCUS ST and CLS 63 S. I haven't owned my E63S long enough for an oil change, but I will talk to the guys at Mercedes and come to the best educated decision.

The timing chain does not need to be changed at 60K. Honestly, change the oil often and you probably will not run into those issues until the 120 to 150k mark. If there is a problem, you will hear it on start up (chain rattle), and you will start to get CEL's about the cam phasers.

Thank you for that information and your time. I know those STs are a really fun car before you mod them.
As regarding the oil fights... you ain't seen nothing until you go to a Powerstroke diesel 6.0 forum. They have inherent problems with the International motor that is greatly affected by the oil you use. It's quite the debate. And I have spent way too many hours under it's hood. But when it runs... it's awesome. At 213K miles since 2006 I can't complain too much.

The Focus ST has been my daily for about 6 years now. Bought it with 82k. I kept it stock for about 6 months, then it got a Ford Performance Calibration. That was a nightmare. It is all documented in that thread I posted. Pulled the FPC, put a down pipe on it with a AJP E30 tune. Ripped it for a couple of years. Then I pulled the DP off and returned it back to stock for the past couple of years. Currently has 192K. Still on the stock clutch and stock turbo. I drive it a lot of highway miles hence why I changed the oil every 5k miles.

For every other car that I own, I change the oil in every 3k miles because they get beat on, and get a lot of mixed driving. Oil is cheap insurance.

Have you ever run the 1/4 mile with the IS300? Looking at the mod list, it sounds like it was quicker than the SHO

I tried with a dragy. I couldnt get a clean pass out of it. The trans is an old R154 5 speed out of a 3rd Gen Supra. It is incredibly hard to speed or power shift it. I think with a modern auto trans it will go a high 10. Super fun car, especially in a roll race.

On 21 psi it made 567 hp. I have had it turned up to 28 psi. I think it will make 620 to 640 hp. However the old Haltech ecu took a shit, and I have been too lazy to convert it to the Elite 2500 that is sitting in the passenger seat for the 10 months.

The SHO would crush the Lexus in a dig race. The Lexus would crush the SHO in a roll race. It is actually .28 seconds faster 60 to 130 than my Mercedes.

If you want to see a bunch of cool stuff about my old SHO and the Lexus check out @fafomotorsports on Instgram.

My POS at the track...

And one day, to my horror, my wife asked me what was still on the car that was on it when I bought it. I finally came up with the rear bumper. And honestly it's modified.

Haha looks like a riot. Fastest I have ever been is a 10.70 in my old Nitrous Foxbody. Funny how mods can get out of control.

Amen on that out of control thing. Every time I act like I want to mod the wife's Z06 she turns me away and sends me to the Bullitt garage. It is quite capable as a street car without mods anyway. I've driven it to the track and lined it up without cooling it, lowering the tire pressure, or any other prep to run the quarter and it ran a 10.8.

Yeah the new tech cars are getting so fast. It is getting wild that a stock full size 4 door sedan with a tune can runs mid to high tens now, on street tires.......
