I just checked everything this morning, and my shims were all within the range they were "supposed" to be.

For 15 year 165k mile car this seems incredibly lucky, but as jthod pointed out, maybe, somewhere along the line the car was checked out.

For the intake, it is between .006 and .010" correct? And the exhaust is between .010" and .014"?

I had .007 and .008 for almost all of the intake shims, and .011 and .012 for the exhaust side.

Lucky?

It's not luck. That is to be expected for an engine that has had the oil changed regulary (3,000 miles) with a quality oil (Castrol GTX, Valvoline).

No way to tell for sure, but perhaps a valve adjustment was done in the past. If it was done at 120K, it would not be a surprise to find them all in spec. at 165K.
