Hello new forum people. I am definatly a sho newbie. zcars is more my thing, but thats beside the point. Anyways I purchased an 89 sho on Sunday and she has some shifting troubles (havent thought of a name for her yet)... But anyways when I bought it she ran great, but the shifter was all over the place. So today after class I started ripping the car apart. I find that of the two rods controling the shifter was completely unhooked from the trans (the one that controls left to right movement). So anyways I hook this back up and huzzah! a shifting car. I didnt try and drive it because I was battery-less. So I run to Autozone to buy a new battery and some zip ties to zip tie the rod until I buy new parts. I come back hook up everything. Zip tie everything down and guess what? The car started just fine, but the no shifting. It was like I was fighting with the trans. So I get back under the car, cut the zip ties and still no luck. I unbolt the part that holds it together and kinda mess around with it some more, but no luck... So anyways, I am looking for some suggestions. From searching the posts I found that this is a common problem. Could it be the trans itself? Thanks
