I used wire. No pictures, but basically criss-crossed around the joint as much as possible while still allowing the joint to move.

I believe the clip is a Mopar part. Then again, I might be thinking of a fix for the for-aft cable.

Did you go around the close part of the bracket directly behind the ball joint, or did you go all the way around the bracket?

Basically tight around the base of the ball, crisscrossed around the socket then I believe I looped around the back of the ball bracket.

More info or pics and you would be a god amoungst men to me.

Sorry, still recovering from shoulder sep., so can't jack it up and climb under it for pic's. I just put the cable end back on the trans where it popped off, and wrapped around it once with a zip tie, cut off the eccess Try it, and if it doesnt work right, it is easy to break it off with pliers and try another one.

Maddog STS has them. http://www.maddogsts.com/ I have an extra SHO cable shifter core if you need one.

After seeing you post about this shifter over a year ago I attempted to contact them (Maddog) several times via email & phone but never received any response.
Are they still in business?
Do they still have these for our Gen 1's?
Perhaps you could get them to post here w/ a reply?

Peace - ah - '89s still kicking!

I exchanged email messages with Chuck G last summer about buying my cable shift cores for the Gen 1 SHO. I don't kinow if he is still making them today or not.

this is the only email address and contact info I have,

Maddog STS

His skills are great; it is not a cut down shifter shaft, the whole mechanism is reworked and super tight.

Thanks for the input guys, I ended up getting her back on the road via the zip-tie jimmy rigging method. Seems to be working fine. I really should fix it legitimately but I have a feeling I'm going to leave it like this until it breaks, most likely in the middle of the worst possible situation :p
