Hey all, haven't been able to find a previous thread and by looking at the car myself didn't see a quick and easy way to get at the shifter/handle. Mine has a bit of a wobble on it and I would like to tighten it back down but don't know how to get at it. Anyone with schematics or knowledge that could help would be greatly appreciated. 2010 model.

I remember posting the few steps from the service manual, but don't recall where. I found the image quite easily. The steps are basically to lower the trim ring (no details how to do that) then access the little screws for the ****.

My shifter was loose a while ago and when I had it at the dealer I asked the tech he said you just pry down on the chrome ring and it will pop down. I'd use a plastic putty knife or other trim removal tool.

What about a swap for the T-handle? I'd prefer a pistol-style to save room. Anyone have any experience with this?

I know there was a guy that tired to swap his shifter on 13 to the earlier style T-handle. And was unsuccessful, don't remember all the details on why it didn't work. Just remember is didn't work for him.

I totally agree. I loved the shifter in the 93 ATX I had. The O/D on-off was cool! The T-handle is by-far my least favorite element of the 2010 SHO styling (not counting the defective chrome tail lights which I fixed with plati-coat, held up pretty good over our long winter)

Rented a new fusion a few weeks ago. Had a nicer shifter than the 2010 stock one.

This would be a great aftermarket upgrade.

I had a loose shifter handle and applied used info above. I took two short wide blade regular screw drivers and pryed down on the trim ring from both the driver and passenger side. Then the trim ring pops back up after tightening. Thanks!
