On my 89 sho, the shifter seems to losen and not go into the correct gears the shifts feel weak and the car loses a lot of power. I have to wiggle the shifter around until it seems to stiffen and then the car shifts fine. Does my clutch/shifter need adjustment? If so how can this be done?... Also car does not go into reverse when shifter losens only when I shake it back into place...

pull the cover off the console off and look at the bottom of the shifter when it loosen up. see if one of the banjo fittings on the shift cable is popping off.mine sorta did the same thing but when it did, i had to physicaly pop it back on.also if its first n rev mostly it might be at the other end of the shift cables, the pillow ball cups do soften n fall off the shift rod,its amazing what you can fix with zip ties as that is what has been holding mine together for 2 yrs.

The plastic ball socket on the end of the cable at either the shifter end, or the trans end has broken off. I also have zip ties holding it in placed on the trans side; using the Mopar clip fix to hold in place on the shifter side, and it has worked fine for years, and with no slop.

I have the part nunber in a file for the Mopar clip somehwere; a $2 metal piece that secures the cable end onto the metal ball on the shifter by pinching it down.
