shifter cable boot went bad need new one

this is hard to explain but at the bottom of the shifter there are 2 cables one on left and one on right the one on the right has a little boot that the shifter ball pivits in and its bad if u can help please reply asap

If you are talking about an older SHO with the cable shifter, it sounds like you are refering to the end of the cable that fits into the shifter itself. There is a plastic clip that holds the cable on the shifter.

Mine broke a couple of years ago. Your only two options, if that is it, is to find one in a junk yard, or buy a whole cable from a Ford dealer. Finding a new one can be quite a challenge. You will have to find a dealer willing to do a nationwide search and hope you get lucky with someone still having one sitting on a shelf somewhere.

I don't know much about the rod shifter, but it may be cheaper and easier to convert to that, if you can.
