shifter adjustment

i have an 89 SHO and the shifter has a ton of play in it. now i know that i have the crappy cable shifter, i am currently lookin for the rod conversion kit (they r expensive!!). my question is this....is there any way to tighten up the cables so instead of having crappy shifts i can at least have poor shifts?

there is no way to adjust the cables on a cable shifter unfortunately. Just check your junkyards for any 92+ shos. It's 10 bolts to remove one.
