If I remember correctly the Camaro had 1 inch wider tires at each corner. What difference do you think it would make if the Shelby had the same width tires as the Camaro?
Would the skid pad and track cornering G's improve for the Shelby? How about acceleration numbers?

Zero on acceleration, and probably also nothing for handling. Too many other factors involved.

Wide, short tires do nothing in a straight line. You want tall and a higher sidewall......

Man, just read this thread- wow, just wow. I'm reminded of a poster of a kid running the special Olympics race with the following quote-

Arguing over the Internet is like running in the special Olympics- even if you win, you are still ********.

While it is pretty politically incorrect and wrong on so many levels, it does illustrate an important point- you guys are all wasting your time. It is clear no minds are going to be changed here. The ZL1 is the best job GM has done on its platform, but still falls short. It is better than a '12 gt500, but not better than a '13. I've driven them all, and there isn't a 'bad' choice. I consider it more like a red head vs blonde argument. It's taste.

What REALLY gets to me here though, is that it appears to me there are 'regulars' posting here that don't give two shakes about the SHO. What the **** is a CTS-V guy who doesn't even like FORDs doing on a SHO forum?

Just wierd to me- If you are a Patriots fan living in Denver, I can understand showing up to a game in a Brady jersey. But why come to a pro ford forum to talk up a CTS or a Camaro?

Anyway, back to the point; if it were me, and I was looking to get the most fun per dollar? I would buy a BOSS. You can add a SC for a power upgrade, and it's fun as **** for not much money!

Wow. I read your 2nd paragraph. I guess you win gold, buddy.

FYI, you obviously didn't read this thread. I said I would pick a Boss over a Camaro SS. Guess you missed that, huh? Another FYI, why not understand the person you're talking about before opening the flap-trap. See my join date? It's well over 10 years ago. When I had an SHO. Which I owned for 10 years. I've been to 9 National Conventions, 6 of those while owning a Cadillac. 3 while owning a SHO, with the first in '95 in Dearborn. I helped to organize the '09 Convention in NH. While I have had vigorous arguments with many on these forums, I have had a beer with these same people and don't hesitate to call them my friends. I know the owner of this site, have contributed monetarily to this site and fully support and advertise this site whenever I can.

While I may favor GM over Ford, I have owned more Ford products than GMs and have driven over 1.2 million miles in Fords. Bottom line is while I may have favorites, I will always pick the best car available. Always. The early SHOs(the reason I'm here in the first place) was an amazing car with soul and performance unheard of for its time. And while I may have moved on, that car will always hold a place in my memory.

So zip it, junior.

Yeah, that was all a timing issue. If I was going to buy them instead of getting them through a TSB, I would've had them from my dealer in Virginia, on the V and ready to go in time.

Hmm, Okay.

Well thanks for the insults. I was agreeing with you on the BOSS choice, but obviously wasn't very clear about that and Somewhat defending your opinion to like a GM.

I was trying to underline that arguing on the Internet rarely ends well, and that usually, glorifying a Chevy on a Ford forum is asking for where this thread went.

Civility aside,
I'm not your junior you condescending ass, and I have 5 Fords in my stable right now, a raptor, a SHO, and 3 Shelby's. You owned a SHO a decade ago? Cool. Congrats.

Since you are so well connected here I'm sure I will get banned And miss out on the 4 posts a month you got going on here, but oh well. There is always SVTOA!

It still doesn't mean you have a free pass to be a dick to the few people that come here.

No, you won't get banned because I know the owner. If you get banned it'll be because of your big mouth.

Again, I can argue all day long with people here and at our meets and Conventions. In this thread, I was being a counterpoint to the thread's point. I have been civil until you thought you know everything and decided to show it. I can argue a point vehemently, then move on and have a great conversation on another subject. Looks like you like to hold on to grudges.

If you ever bothered to show up at a meet or Convention, you'd see many here who no longer have SHOs. There was no SHO for 10 years. Enthusiasts like myself opened Fords eyes to the old SHO owner.

But, again, you'll ignore all that and miss the point and continue to insist you can only be on an online forum if you own said car.

And, yes, when you just join a site, not knowing jack, then you ARE my junior. You certainly act like one. Now, you can either pout and take your ball and run to another site or you can acknowledge your noobness ans we can move on.

Yes, yawn. Stock boost in the heat and humidity 11.09 @ 128.5 picking up 31 mph on the back end. Let's see a stock blower, stock pullied, exhaust and CAI ZL1 run that. My car weighs the same if not more than a 2013 GT500 and I have a stock 2013 blower on my car with the little 5.4 motor. BTW awaiting my personalized plates to come in....8URZL1.:swing: I'll know not to race one around cones in a parking lot.

How many times are you going to brag about the power? Have I ever once said the GT500 isn't faster? If you think you're "getting me good" by rehashing given facts, welcome to elementary school. And then "getting me good" again by taunting me that a great handling car is applicable in a parking lot with cones and is a minor issue, that's nice.

Let's revisit since you can't comprehend what's going on here.

We can look at numbers of the GT500 and ZL1. We can look at opinions from car rags that universally praise the GT500's power and the ZL1's handling prowess. Some people have an old GT500 or modified Mustangs and have chimed in. I have a GM product with a little better power and a little more weight than a ZL1, with MR shocks. Slightly different chassis, but similar characteristics.

Then comes dubbs who calls me out because I don't own an SHO and thus doesn't deserve to be here or argue on this subject.

And you backing him up just shows you're a vindictive, angry person. I said something bad about your binky and you'll never forgive me. So sorry...

Taking the 10,000' view.....

This is similar to the V8 SHO mailing list that I've been on FOREVER. Many of the guys have moved on to other vehicles (in what we call the Troll Bar!), and many of the discussions are about anything but the V8 SHO, as it has all been said before.

We have occasional new folks with issues. We are nice, and point them to the answers we had 10 years ago. And occasionally an old-timer has a question on a new, weird problem.

Same here on the SHO Forum. The newbies ask questions that we have answered years ago, but we try to be nice. The old-timers have largely moved on to other cars. In my case, I sold, what I thought, was my last SHO in '04, then I attended Conventions and track events with my '05 Subaru Legacy GT Turbo for 6 years.

The sickness hit me, and now I'm back with two '89 SHOs. But....that could change! Same as many of the old-time SHO folks. Many of the guys in the SHO Club I've known for 20 years have other cool rides, and some no longer have SHOs.

If you haven't been around us, you don't understand. I have attended all but two (the first two) of the SHO Conventions. I don't CARE what people bring to them. We are a good car club community.

If you haven't been around us, or our gatherings, you don't have a clue.....

Jeez - who gives a f***. Couple of guys both have to have the last word on a now tedious topic

I have a 10 Sho, love it, have had 4 before. Saying that, I also have a '83 Mustang GT Convertable. For sheer driving joy, I love the Mustang because of the direct input. No lag, no bs, just throttle.

The 'stang is putting out about 250 HP, Edelbrock top end kit, couple other things. It only goes out when the weather is good.

The SHO is my DD. I work in construction and the 4 wheel drive was a big push for the SHO. I drove a 03 Crown Vic for 8 years, did not have a problem at all. I drive thru fields and construction sites. That said, in a daily sitiuation, the 4 wheel drive is a godsend.

I tow a boat, only about 10 miles a shot, a couple times a year. SHO has enough weight and brakes to do the job just fine. I like the fact that this car will do 99% of what I need to do. If I need to go farther, I steal my wife's Expedition.

I like big sedans and I have allways said that if the CV had AWD, I would never buy anything else. The SHO is that and a hot rod.

Being a life long Ford guy, take it for what it's worth. I need a car that can go from freeway to farm field and this is it.

BTW-when I bought the SHO, the salesguy looked at my CV and said "surely you won'treat this car that way." To which I replied, "That is why I wanted all wheel drive"!.

The only ***** I have is the powertrain should be more real wheel biased. I do not like the front wheel biased Haldex system. My ideal would be that the rear breaks loose, the the front kicks in. In real world conditions, it would be much better for me to have a system that was set more towards rear wheel drive.

That said, how many people have a a rear wheel drive car any more?

My 17 yrold inherited my 03 CV. My wife said the car was "dangerous"?
Good tires, common sence(sp)-I drove that car in the icy storms of central Ohio for 160

Big JIM... YOU have been proven 100% correct on FORD BRAKE FADE... as Motor Trend just tested 10 Gotta Have cars. Shelby Mustang was great the first 1/2 at Laguna Seca until the brakes like... DIED!!! It was much faster that new hot rod Camaro... that first lap.... given 10... Camaro would clean it's clock... due to in-effective brakes... STRANGE... but ture!!!!!

Guess it is time for me to give up my fantasy GT-R and just order a cheapo ($99K) new 911 S with Tiptronic... and very few other options. (DREAMING... EBB!!!)
