I've tried searching, but found very limited resources. The power antenna doesn't work at all in my 91. I'd like to ditch it altogether, but I would also like to have radio reception. I'd like to fill in the hole where the antenna is, but I'm not sure where to put another? Is there something I can attach to the inside of my glass? Could I make something like the focus' work on the roof? I just want to get ideas from anyone who has shaved their antenna as to what they have done for an aftermarket antenna. Thanks.

you can buy an antenna (circuit city might have one) that goes right across the top of the windshield on the inside, its stealthy and works great.

Do you have experience with this? I would definitely like stealth.

Shaved mine a couple years ago, never replaced it with anything as I ditched terrestrial radio and went straight to satellite.

Nice clean subtle look there which not everyone notices.

Here's a second for Satellite radio - commercial-free music in a multitude of genre, any NFL game every weekend, NASCAR left-turn racing, small cross-section of talk-radio, and even religious channels - and you get any channel everywhere in the U.S., as well as outside into Canada, Mexico, and parts of the Caribbean.

Sirius appears to be the more stable of the two. If you need any information post back, and we can post more info.

I'd be interested in more info. What's it take for just use in the car? This would be on my '97 so the actual radio needs to stay OEM.

I shaved my antennae and didn't put anything in it's place. Thats because I never listen to the radio. I have my Ipod hooked up and jam CD's. I might get the hidden window antennae after I put in a new windshield.

Yeah the cost is hard to justify - until you've given it a try. I couldn't possibly care less if I never listened to radio again.

By the by, I just a week or so ago renewed my Sirius subscription for two radios, two years each, and I don't believe it was even three hundred bucks.

I shaved mine in 2001 when the car went to the body shop. I have an adhesive antenna in the back windshield. It's stealthy but the reception isn't the greatest. I rarely listen to the radio though. One of these days I'll go with sat. radio.

I'm not really interested in sat. radio because i can't really justify the cost (i don't put a lot of miles on, and the 91 will most likely be driven only in the summer). I just wanted to know what kind of after market antennas had been tried on the SHO. What are the ones called that go at the top of the windshield on the inside that 1993MTXSHO referred too? I can't seem to find them at any big box store websites.....

I think ManySHOs is using a glass mounted antenna from radio shack that maybe cost $5 at the most.

You might try looking for tape or adhesive "glass mount" antenna. Basically it looks like an FM antenna for a home stereo attached to a long piece of clear scotch tape.

No, I got it from a car stereo shop and it was closer to $20. I have the brand and p/n# at home. If I remember I'll look for it.

Or is that the same Clearchannel song list in [your] head . . . .

After the trip to Seattle you might change your mind. There are regions where only two genre of "music" were available (country and western).:laugh_ti:

With a simple install, you can move from vehicle to vehicle in less than two minutes, and the same "radio" channels are available anywhere - you don't have to worry about finding new radio stations you like every few hours.

You can also get a home-docking station kit, and use it in-house as well.

Yes, first receiver is $13.95 per month, second subscription is $6.99 - or buy the lifetime subscription ($499), which pays for itself in 3+ years.
