New tires, new wheels, new hub and bearing assemblies all the way around, new rear diff, new rotors and pads.... Lots of money... still shakes at 65-80 mph range like it did the day I bought it three years ago. What do I try next? Drive shaft? Axles?

Drive faster?

All kidding aside, were the wheels and tires road force balanced? Have you tried tire beads? Do you only have the issue at that speed or is it more RPM related in any gear and you are just correlating it to speed because you are usually in 6th at that speed. Try running 5th at 65-80. Then try running 5th at the same RPM as you are running when in 6th at 65-80. This will help determine where in the driveline the problem is.

I can be at speed and throw the car in neutral and it is still there. I think I'm going to put a driveshaft in it next.

Brake hoses are known to fail pretty early on this platform. Could be caused by a bit of caliper drag

probably cheaper that a drive shaft too. I swear I have heard the fronts drag a bit in a drive thru

Yea perfect time to upgrade to braided brake hose. Shop around for a good price and be sure its all 4 wheels. It gave me the petal feel i needed to slide for autocross.

Yeah, I feel like I'm chasing my tail with this car though. Running out of things to change!

I don't know offhand if it is even possible on our cars, but when they replaced the rear diff., did they somehow get the rear driveshaft out of phase? Or possibly bend it slightly?

Could be a bad diff mount also. I went with a poly diff mount and complete poly suspension bushings. And i feel so much vibration and all. Maybe thats what he is feeing

How do you have complete poly suspension bushings when nobody makes them for our cars? There is a recent thread here on that very subject.

last year i bought a control arm set and all components and pulled the bushings and had it my race shop match it up to something close in all dimensions. Nothing is impossible on this platform. Funny how “nobody” makes anything when thats the issue.
There is about a handful of actual car enthusiasts in this community and the rest are people who are wanna-bee fastbois that cant for real because its their only vehicle and “i got 3 kids”

People on this platform want everything made for them. And you know what, Aaron is trying his best for the past few years to bring universal parts to the platform as bolt on and im tired of seeing him mocked on here for doing that. But in then end 99% of owners just wanted a daily driver taurus with all the options…

I'm curious what was used for the large bushing that has to fit over the hexagon post of the front LCA then? Your race shop found something "close in all dimensions" for that? LOL

Anything can be made. Duh....pretty much anyone here understands that.

Don't know who Aaron is so I can hardly be mocking him for anything. If he made them work just fine for your car why isn't he (or you for that matter) offering them up for sale since he's "trying his best for the past few years to bring universal parts to the platform"?

I didn't see you comment in this thread? Let everyone know about your poly bushings then.

Here ya go.

So the only bushing I remember being awkward in shape was this one. What we did was got poly material. Put it on a lathe. Faced it down to length, left a seatface with a slightly larger od. And machined the rest of the od to snug size. Center drilled through it and bored it to a brass insert diameter that was bored .0035 over the fastener diameter. Worked out pretty well. My shop also made me solid round poly bushings for my miata diff carrier years back before my apprenticeship. A year or so after people were making them themselves FM came out with a solid piece they make for sale but its at a steep cost

I am having the driveshaft pulled and evaluated first. The vibration is there in gear or out of gear and after further testing it is between 60 and 80 mph. The shop behind me says they can make things happen pretty quick with another drivetrain shop. At least eliminate that as an option.

Is the vibration still there faster than 80mph? Out of wack drive shaft would get worse at higher speeds.

If it only vibrates between 60-80 mph, regardless of gear, it's tire balancing or suspension related. Do you feel it in the steering wheel more, or in the seat more? Is it a violent, fast vibration?

But if it was a driveshaft, wouldn't the shake go away with harmonic balance based on a speed point? It seems to go away above the 80mph mark. I have the wheels in a shop today having them trued as we speak. We will see if any difference is made with that. I think the next step is a can of gas and a match.
