Any-hoo, i'm new to this place, but Purchased a 96 ES SHO a couple of months back. It had 93k on it, and now is at 108k
when bought the valve train seemed to be very quiet, unless it's my imagineation it seems to be louder? My question is
do these v8 engines produce a loud noice, cause there chain driven, or am I in need of getting it looked at. Any responses welcomed and appreciated.

Woodrow, First things first. was the 60k major tune up done? The valves should be adjusted at 100K for the big v-8. Also, you should change the plugs and wires. It wouldn't hurt and YOU WILL notice the change in performance if this is done.

well on the v-8 the valve job is not required until 160k and the v8's have direct ignition, so there is no wires. but thanks for the input,What i really was wondering was if the engines are quiet or they produce alot ofg noise, with it being chain driven, just hoping it ain't the cam sprockets.

Be warned!
I think the sewing machine noise was a symptom of that cam failure.. You might want to check with some of the other posts to verify this..

I'm way too tired so I could be wrong..

That's the symptoms described by some who have experienced cam failure. Huge $$$ repair if not taken care of. Have your cams welded ASAP!

Do not get them welded, unless by a SHO specific place that is aware of how to handle the problem. I like the way SHOSHOP does it better. The drill and put a pin in the sprocket.
