Currently under my car
I need some input relatively quick as I am under my car!! I posted early today about a sloppy MTX and got a few replies but now that I got underneath it, I have found that the "stabilizer" going from the "control assembly" (shifter) to the trans has been split in two! Holy Crap!! It might have something to do with corrosion but it doesn’t look as if it is solid steel.......anyway, (1) where can I get a new assembly, does anyone have one they would like to part with/ (2) can I drive like this until I get one?? (3) Is this a SHO specific gimmick (I’m sure it is) Thanks to all

Yes I am in need of the "Stabilizer" bar itself but it looks like it is permanently attached to the mounting plate in the rear. Are these gimmicks hollow pipe filled with something?? Could I make one from Aluminum and bolt it to the rear plate or does this piece see a lot of forces??

I believe it`s hollow steel,i`d be worried aluminum would be too weak. You can absolutley make a new one if you can weld, many have broken and been welded back together.

The can be salvaged from late built 91(approx 6/91)-95 SHO`s.

As far as i know,it`s safe, but it`s a pain to drive.I had the main bolt in the tranny strip out,and if i was too ******* the gas,i couldn`t shift gears. It basically holds the mechanism steady to it`s easier to find gears. You should be fine until you get it fixed.
