Just had a serious issue in my 93 MTX I was on my way home tonight just getting in from NY and at around a cruising speed of 50 this hard bucking occurrd almost like the transmission was slamming and during All of this the tachometer stop working for a moment as i was going through gears it felt like the car lost power and starting putting like when I would engage the clutch and go into gear sounded almost like it was 2 stepping I can't really explain but then it stopped and everyhting started working fine the trans and all started shifting smooth again and the tachometer started working again for about 5 to 6 miles then the bucking occurred again and the tachometer stopped working again right up the street from my house then it stopped again and it's working normal I need help on this

That is exactly the symptom I had when I had a failing cam sensor. Curiously, a sick cam sensor can cause the engine to stall while a dead cam sensor will not have any effect other than making the pcm guess which is #1 cylinder during startup.

I would change the cam sensor post haste.

It wouldn't hurt to pull the codes, but I had the same thing as rubydist mentioned and it was my cam sensor

That is exactly the symptom I had when I had a failing cam sensor. Curiously, a sick cam sensor can cause the engine to stall while a dead cam sensor will not have any effect other than making the pcm guess which is #1 cylinder during startup.

I would change the cam sensor post haste.
It wouldn't hurt to pull the codes, but I had the same thing as rubydist mentioned and it was my cam sensor
codes came up as 111, 10,176,177,214,219,542 and 543

and that would retard the rpms and make the car **** hard like its tugged ?

111 = all good, that means no codes were generated while you were running the test
176 = lean on front bank
177 = rich on front bank
214 = error in CID circuit (cam sensor)
219 = spout circuit failure, timing defaulted to 10*
542 = fuel pump secondary circuit issue (this gets set when the engine stalls)
543 = fuel pump monitor circuit shows no power (never seen this one)

I would change the cam sensor and reset the codes, and see what comes back after a week or two.

The sick cam sensor can cause the cylinders to fire at the wrong time, which will cause all the symptoms you describe above.

thanks I changed the sensor seems to be running on all 6 cylinders now
