My check engine light came on yesterday, so I ran the code, and it came up as a "Secondary Air Injection System Fault."

I have no idea what that means, so I had AutoZone run it and they said that probable causes include:
1. Circuit relay defective or fuse open.
2. Check connector and wiring
3. Air pump defective or hoses blocked.

I have no idea. Has anyone had this happen before? How do I fix it? Should I still be driving it? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

My bet is the relay. There is a 40A fuse for it under the hood. Called ThermoPump or something. check that first.

The SAI (Secondary Air Injection) system is for emissions only, and has no effect on driveability and won't damage the vehicle if it's non-functioning. If it's not functioning it will cause you to fail an emissions test if your area requires one, though.

It's the Thermactor Pump. Look in the owners manual. Fuse #8, 30A.

I'm going to bump this back to the top. I finally got around to trying to fix this.

I put a new fuse in it and cleared the codes. I drove for about a half hour and my light came back on, ran the codes again it was the same so it's not the fuse.

Does any one know what I can check next?

I found a seconary air pump from the junk yard and I plan to replace mine. I keep getting that pesky Check Engine Light so to save the hassel from constantly clearing a code I plan on replacing the part. Its kinda hard to get to as its on the drivers side- front of the car-bolted to the lower fender/radiator support. I believe the front bumper will have to be removed for the sake of working room. Any better solutions?

Just remove the under bumper panel.

You can drop the subframe on that side a couple of inches to help get in there.
