SCT Tuner

So I'm new to the EB tuning/performance, but I recently picked up a SCT tuner from GH, but it came with nothing on it, just blank. I've owned several handhelds for different makes and they all came with at least a few base tunes to get you started. Is this normal for it to be blank?

I understand that I will eventually get that custom tune, I just thought it would come with some OTS tunes as well.

I could be mistaken, but I believe you have to go to the GH tuning forum and put in the required fields then download the tune/tunes from them onto the SCT device.

Yes it ships with no tunes, and you need to fill out the form first.

The custom tune is what you want, anyway. The standard tunes that are sometimes (used to be?) on the SCT device are not nearly as good as what you will get from GH.

This, I believe mine came with the SCT SHO tune but I wouldn't touch that one.

I actually received the custom tune this morning, when I get home I'll be uploading everything. I'm sure there will be no issues and I'm totally fine with only having the 1 custom on there and no generic. I was just confused that it was empty when it showed up. Thanks all for the replies!

From what I've gathered, Matt is very quick to respond to tuning requests.

I'd try and go to the sct site and download the latest drivers directly from there. Make sure you're on the most updated windows update as well, or you're likely to keep running into errors with driver conflict.

Also try a clean install. So if you have any previous drivers or anything relating to sct, delete it all and reinstall.

That error was immediately after getting all drivers from SCT. That’s what’s weird. I’m not sure if I missed something. I also installed from the sct device updater. When I go to live link and try to establish comm, it force closes out.

Is the device connected to the pc? You may want to disconnect it if so and try again. You may also want to try and contact sct support and see if they can help directly.

Of course SCT support is closed for the weekend. I disconnected and installed and installed with it connected.

I’ll uninstall completely and try again. Hopefully it’s not a faulty tuner

Okay. When you download livelink, just make sure device isn’t connected to the computer. I uninstalled, unplugged tuner, reinstalled livelink. From there I did the “open” then “configuration” put in the .cf4. Hit the “comm” button. At the next screen, plug in device, wait for the “main menu” screen to pop up the hit “check communication” button.

Worked perfectly from there.

Also learned this weekend, that apparently the S/N on the plastic on the tuner is not the same as the actual S/N they need to set up the handheld. You'll have to plug it in to get the S/N off the device info, I made that mistake and set me back a few days.

Interesting. I don’t recall pulling the device serial number once plugged in but damn.
