i'm not a huge fan of motorcyclists in general, i think the arguement that they don't have mufflers is for protection is a bit of a stretch, bicycles should have giant sirens in that case. i could understand an exhaust system that would allow me to hear them from a hundred feet away, but seriously, i can hear bikes 4 blocks away with my window closed.

In Iowa they don't require a helmet, and almost nobody wears one here. I can't think of anything more idiotic, maybe not wearing a seatbelt while driving a car comes close. this "i look stupid" and "i dont want to look like a nerd" stuff is ridiculous. You'll look really stupid when your head is splattered all over the road, or are sitting in a hospital bed as a tube feeder for the rest of your life.

you realize that while riding a motorcycle that most DOT approved helmets are about as useful as **** on a bull at 30+ mph right?

i wear a lid, but not because i'm afraid of smacking my head on concrete at freeway speed, but more for getting hit by the ass clown playing with her smart phone as she rear ends my bike while i'm stuck at a stop light. it also does a good job of blocking 75mph wind noise and rocks/bugs hitting my face.

regardless, if you are riding a motorcycle you SHOULD wear a helmet, and keep the exhaust noise to a reasonable level.

anyone who cant follow that is an adult and capable of making their own decisions i guess.

I can not imagine riding my motorcycle without a helmet. To me it seems very dumb to not wear it or my Honda riding jacket. In all honesty, it would probably not do much if the bike is laid over at a good clip.

But with all the bugs and **** that the face shield gets hit with would get old, really quick and the bike would sit in the garage even more.
