Have been all over internet trying to find sales numbers for 2010 Taurus and SHO in particular. Don't see many Gen 4 on road. Just curious. I know the VIN gives the serial number of the cars built-last set digits. This should relate to number built-but it is six figures and no way over 100,000 Taurus built. Would seem the last 4 digits may be the determinate. Think I have a very early build-in first thousand. Anyone know where to find this info on the web?

For 2010 there were 7114 SHO's built IAW Ford Performance Group. My VIN placed my car as the 3784th of the 7114, 883 of 1518 Candy Apple Red.

I don't think the VIN relates at all to build date or order. I'll bet there were a ton of Taurus cars built if you count all models.

Ford goes by Sequence #'s (called Blend #) not VIN numbers. VIN's aren't sequential... blend/rotation # are.

We are seeing lots more SHO's and EB Flex's down here in Naples.

Of course... my dream car was also on the street.... A NEW Black Ferrari 458 Italia with Black Int. and RED stitching. VUNDERBAR!
Much better looking than the Red one in the showroom in Rome in Nov.

Just around the corner was a new V-10 AUDI Conv, also in Black.

I thought the last few #'s of the VIN were indeed sequential #'s - the order it rolled off the assembly line. At least that's what I've found from some Google searches.

I think that Ford builds the SHO's along the rest of the Taurus line. I mean there are not many unique parts to the SHO outside of the Engine/Trans and some interior bits. Other than that we're the same as the regular old Tauruses.

I don't think the VIN has anything to do with build order...my VIN doesn't match in any way shape or form to my build order.
