I thought 89 calipers were different than 90-92 calipers? Good price, I'm going to pick up a set for my upgrade. ;)

Oh sure, and RIGHT after I just bought a pair from you guys.

Funny too, because at the bottom of the page where it shows "customers who bought this item also bought..." and it shows exactly what else I ordered at the time. It must display the last logged order with that item on it :D.

Good price, Autozone has calipers for the same price, but they're not Ford NOS pieces.

Except Autozone probably gets $125 for EACH caliper. They are selling the pair for $125.

And yes they are fully loaded. Calipers, mounts, slides, pads, the whole deal. I just put them on my car last week.

yeah i read that, but nowhere in the description does it say includes pads or anything else included with a loaded caliper...

They're loaded. I bought a set a while back. Couldn't be happier with 'em. Brand new calipers FTW.

The only difference between the 89 and 90-92 calipers is the piston. 89 had phenloic and 90-92 had steel. They switched to steel because the phenolic had the possibility of melting.

How long is this sale for? I am in the middle of rear brakes right now, and just might get these instead.

Nope, I got my set of brand new loaded calipers from AZ last year (forgot the brand), they're $6x.xx each.

LOUDSHO92 - can you confirm whether the calipers have the phenolic or steel caliper piston?

DDakRT is correct - I also purchased the remanufactured loaded caliper pair from AutoZone last fall - I paid $134.99 plus a $95.00 core charge and tax.
The calipers were remanufactured Ford OEM calipers, and the company's name is Morse (Chicago, IL company that remanufactures brakes calipers and
shoes). The pads that came with my set last year, were a high quality, riveted semi-metallic pad. I believe both the AutoZone Duralast Ceramic pads,
as well as their Duralast LLT warranty pads are made by Morse as well.

Advance Auto also carries a similar priced remanufactured loaded Ford caliper under the CarDone brand name. While both represent good alternatives,
both have core charges, not to mention that you're getting remanufactured OEM calipers versus brand new OEM !!!

If there's a $95 core charge, then they are $230 for the pair outright, which is the point I was trying to make. The local parts houses out here get $130 EACH for rebuilt calipers sold outright.

With the SHOBros deal, you are getting two brand new OEM Ford loaded calipers for the price of one rebuilt caliper. Even at the price I just paid before the sale, it was a no brainer over a pair of remans.

Yep Morse is the manufacturer, it was my understanding that they were remanufactured, but the set I got looked to be new.

I never paid the core charges as I gave them a set of cores at the time. I don't get why core charges matter, even if you paid it you're going to get your money back either way, so the point is moot.

But that's not ture though.

Either way, this is a great deal, if I didn't have a set of calipers already, I'd get a set from SHOBros right now.

Uhmmm..... No, that's not correct. All the rear calipers has steel or aluminum pistons. That's the only way the e-brake could work. No way would a phenolic piston take a threaded actuator.

The '89 SHO's had tapered roller bearings and did not have ABS and as a result, they had a slightly different offset in the rotor. Actually, you could use front rotors on the back of an '89 (with a little creative shimming of the caliper bracket). So these are not a direct bolt-on for an '89.

:oogle: *looks at the set next to him* You've gotta be kidding......

So..... what am I supposed to do now..? I also just bought some '89-'92 rotors for the rear. Will those not work..?

The core charge matters because it's the difference between having two sets of calipers and having one set. If you don't turn in the cores, those remans just cost you $230 for the pair vs $125 for the pair of new Ford from SHOBros and you still have your old calipers. If you DO turn the cores, it's the same price, but you only have one set of calipers now.

I bought the SHOBros calipers outright, and STILL have my original calipers. I am now going to send my originals out to be rebuilt, so now I'll have a spare set.
