past threads seem worthless for what i need. noone ever gives the person asking a straight answer always seems to be the "waste ot time and money" arguments all i need to know is if theres a rwd trans that will bolt to this engine without haveing to spend 1300 bucks on some one making a bellhousing for me. ive tried elsewhere to find info but noone can even tell me for sure what bellhousing pattern it is. one guy tells me duratec another tells me its the same as a 4.6

clicky

Somewhere in this jumble should be more than ample information for you. This subject's been beaten severely and just about every question one would have about convering a SHO engine to RWD is covered somewhere in this search. I've found enough to know that it's gonna cost a decent amount of cash for the project that I have planned sometime in the future (TT SHO Ranger).

Keep diggin...the answer is there. :thumb:

well you would probably be the first to convert it unless some underground garage did it

at this point im thinkinb about designing a kit

I have the man you want to talk to about the bellhousing. http://www.browellbellhousing.com/ I was speaking to Brian there. It would seem to me that they are going to be high quality and be able to hold a lot a ooomph.

I made a post a while back about a custom v8 to T56 housing. he said he need "block xy numbers to crank center line and transmission front pattern" Or a ship him a block. Located in IN.

so I was looking around web trying to make my crack pipe dream come true when I ran into THIS.

I sent them an email and am waiting to hear back. I think a grand would be worth having a bolt in engine cradle with tranny mount that allowed you to keep the stock suspension. We shall see....we shall see

"Sorry Joshua we can’t help with this request. Our kit will only work on the Focus. Good luck on your project. Kugel’s"

I don't think they really did any looking whatsoever. Oh well it was worth a shot

I replied to them clarifying that I didn’t want to make the Focus Kit work but rather get a new engine cradle made. I am pretty sure my original email was straight forward. What do you all think?

Original:

I am the owner of a 99 Taurus SHO with the 3.4L V8. There has been lost of talk on my forum about wanting to convert a SHO to RWD. I have been looking into this for some time and I was curious if this would be a possibility as it has shown to be one with the Focus. I already know of a place that will build custom bellhousing to matte the SHO block with a T-56. If there is any information you need about the car to figure out whether or not it is feasible and the pricing please don’t hesitate to ask.

The Focus V8 RWD platform was developed by Ford. That's probably why they offered it

Meh, I'm contemplating a RWD TT SHO Ranger....so if anyone figures out how to bolt up a RWD slushbox to a SHO motor, I'm all ears.....

I'm thinking the bellhousing from an Aerostar and a slushbox from an SN95 Mustang.....thoughts?

oh yeah, I have an idea about how to use the stock subframe but just modify is some. I will photoshop one up later and run it by you all to see if you think it'd be feasible.
