I need help. I have rust on the inside bottom of the door. I really need to get rid of it before the snow hit. It is only surface rust. What would be the best way of going about this?? Thank you ;)

sand it down if its just surface rust....sand it down, prime it and then repaint it, easiest would be touch up paint for the same color as the car. And after that you can either get the car oil sprayed or just do it yourself and put some grease/oil in the bottom of all the doors

Use a grinder to remove the rust. It really depends on how deep the rust got into the metal. The best fix would be to cut out the rust and weld in some new metal but it'll take $$$ and time. If its only on the surface then grind it down as clean as you can. Then fill, prime and paint.

yes, the best bet would be to cut out the rusted sheet of metal and weld a new one on, but that might not be needed in this case.

Jess-I used plain ol' hand sand paper and it worked fine. just be sure to prime/paint after sanding :thumb:

If the rust is showing on the exposed inner lip, then it's already in the seam. Be sure to spray or pour something inside the door to stop or seal the rust in the seam.

You can get a spray can of rust oleam rust inhibiter. You can get a can for $6. I have used this stuff and it kills rust, doesn't allow it to spread any further. You should do this ever after sanding and before painting, just to make sure it kills rust pockets that you thought you got out...
