Ok on my 89 MTX on cold starts everytime I start the car and sometimes starts very slow like, then I start to drive it and it hesitates, act like its hardly getting fuel and over revs when clutching, also last night I'm driving like 5 mph and it jerks the exhaust has a load of air shooting through it sound like and feel like the engine is going to drop to the floor and it does this on cold and warm starts... Please Help!!!!!!!!!! Whats wrong with it?:fit:

There aren't any codes at all that's the crazy part. The only code that came up when I last got it tested was for the MAF and he was able to pull the code history. That was the only thing but it feels like more than that. Can the MAF really make your car run that poorly? It also is for some reason only getting 20 mpg on the highway!

The only code that came up when I last got it checked was for the MAF but there are no other codes. Can the MAF really make your car run this poorly? I even get bad gas mpg. It has averaged 20 mpg highway and thats not right!

Unplug the MAF and see if anything changes.

Though in all reality, you are supposed to solve each code before digging into a deeper diagnosis. You could very well end up replacing the engine and having the same problem.

My car has been running like a dog ever since I built. Turns out I was missing my SPOUT signal, just as the codes were saying. No CEL, it was always stored. Fixed it and the car runs better than it ever has.

I did that and the car continues to run but now I came across another issue. I found out I have a vac leak somewhere and that's really hard to detect. Now what should I do because its hard to hear where it is coming from... And what is a spout signal? Sorry I'm a new mechanic...

you will get a code if the spout connector is missing, so don't worry about it if you don't have that code.
