I know a 215 is what is supposed to be on the car, but would running a 225 do any harm besides looking stupid with all that sidewall. Just looking to save some $$$ rather than buying new or used. BTW, the tires I am thinking of using are Uniroyal Tiger Paws. My step-son drives the car, like he will know any difference:laugh_ti::nut::rofl::naughty:

It may or may not rub depending on the tire itself mostly. Some have done it ok others had issues.

First, and foremost, if you MUST go cheap, don't settle for that Uniroyal, keep 'em safe if you can (for CHEAPER, I might add) try these (a simple search on Tirerack.com in your size brought these up):

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires...6TR6KR21&vehicleSearch=false&fromCompare1=yes

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires...6VR6EASX&vehicleSearch=false&fromCompare1=yes

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires...R6AMAXRT&vehicleSearch=false&fromCompare1=yes

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires...26TR6TRZ&vehicleSearch=false&fromCompare1=yes

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires...6TR6TTAT&vehicleSearch=false&fromCompare1=yes

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires...R6AMAXHP&vehicleSearch=false&fromCompare1=yes

All of these I found for under $82 (which is the asking price on those Uniroyals you mentioned) and all have at least a 3 to 4 point higher surveyed rating.

Secondly, I have never ran anything less than a 225 width tire on my SHOs due to the bit more road grip you get with 225. I have also never experienced tire rub, or any decreased ride comfort. I did, however, get better handling, significantly higher ease of purchase (although the size I'm running right now, 225 55 16, is a weird one and harder to acquire), and generally last longer. I'd go a little bit deeper before settling on what appears to be the cheapest tire right off the bat.

I run 225-60 on mine..
They don't rub..
You could probably go 235-55 and be OK.. Pretty sure.. I think..

Uniroyal is a good brand of tire, they are owned by Michelin and been around a long time

I put a lot of them on at work, and they are a lot nicer then other tires and seem very safe

even their bigger truck tires are nice..... If I had another truck I'd be putting on their HD/H tires without a 2nd thought

won't be much of a performance tire, but they are excellent for the price, and very good for free!

the only model I don't like from Uniroyal is the AS6000, they seem to wear fast

a lot of the Uniroyals I install are for our fleet accounts and regular customers, so I see what the tires are like later on down the road... they balance good, ride smooth, and are quiet.....

I would like to run a Uniroyal for a DD tire but they don't make anything in my size........

I run 225/55R16's on mine. They do not run and do not affect your speedo as much as a 225/60 would. The 225/55's will be running 73.8mph if your speedo reads 75mph. Very close.
