I let my buddy drive my v8sho yesterday. I told him to gun it( Wanted to feel it form the passenger side) but what I noticed is that my car doesent shift untill 6.99999999 thousandRPM 1-2 6.8ish 2-3

is this normal or what, because I remember reading that the chip for the v8 makes it shift at those points.

Did i buy a car with a chip already in it?

I highly doubt it, mine shifts at thoughs points as well. So yup it's normal.

it is very easy to check the back of the computer, might as well change your cabin filter while you are at it...

Can't remember off the top of my head, but I "think" the 98 shifts at around 7k outta first and like 6.5k from there on...

You also gotta make sure your foot is ALL THE WAY DOWN or it wont shift at redline... :bonk:

My 95 ATX shifted outta gear early too in the higher gears, was told this is normal so it places you in a better power band once it shifts... ;)

hehe
for the longest time I didn't know either. Someone started a thread a while back about what certain acronyms meant.
Until then, I always assumed "IIRC" had something to do with the gen.3 car ("IMRC") :bonk:

High shift points aren’t always good.... If I do the 1-2-D manually add on about another 2 tenths to my quarter, but I do go 91 :p

My first gear WOT shift was at about 7K before the chip. If you granny the car around for a few days, the WOT shift point will settle to 6500-6800. The PCM adapts the shifts to your driving style.

My 1st gear shift point is now 7300.
