Just got done doing the roundbutton EATC mod, used the roundbutton out of a 1998 Crown Vic and the softbutton from a 1994 SHO. I verified that the softbutton worked before I tore it apart, didn't have the option to do the same with the roundbutton. Now, I'm done with the mod, I double-checked all my solder joints and everything looks good, but when I plug the EATC in to the car, the blower speed control dial works, but nothing else does, none of the buttons are responsive, the display doesn't come on, and none of the button backlights work. What did I do wrong?

You likely used an incompatible EATC. Looking at the pic here: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/3839026/2000-ford-crown-victoria#38390260009 it has a max AC and a norm AC button. Hopefully you didn't toast the 94 EATC board...

here's a 98 CV EATC pinout, likely you will find the pins all wrong. Also the ribbon cables inside the unit will have different purposes. I did a custom rewire on a ~99 after tracing the circuits and decoding the button matrix, but still had a temp-down button that didn't work.

Same issue I had. I can't remember what my round button EATC was out of though.

Edit: It was a Grand Marquis, a 99 or so I think.

Thanks guys. I just soldered the softbutton faceplate back on, and everything worked. I thought any of the roundbuttons out of those cars were okay, you just had to put up with the mislabeled buttons. I'm going to be keeping an eye out for the correct ones, and I guess I'll just put up with the softbutton for now.
