$4000: Its a lot, but its my baby. The price is negotiable (moreso here than anywhere else).
This is my junkyard car I bought from Monster Auto Wrecking in 2003 for $200 + $50 delivery. I then proceeded to pour in over $5000 in a five year period while I would work on it on Sundays after church. It sat in a garage until 2008 when I first started it up. Since then I have spent my time improving it. It is bone stock, aside from some cup style Al subframe bushings. I believe I have put in a bit over $10,000 over 12 years, and the time has come, due to lack of time and space.
I have most of the receipts, but I did get somewhat lazy in the last few years so I certainly won't have all of them.
Engine
The engine is stock. It is not the original engine, and I believe it is from a 1992, but I can't verify that. After rebuilding I took it into the State Patrol and it passed inspection. It has been renewed every year since. It passes emissions with flying colors every year. Most sensors were replaced within 40K miles. It leaks a bit of oil around the right (or rear) cam sensor. The engine sounds good and does not exhibit any mechanical issues. I do currently have two codes, one 167 and 219, and I am diagnosing those. I'll update this once I take care of those issues. The SPOUT jumper was cut off by the previous owners and I connected the two wires with a crimped butt-end connector. The butterfly system operates normally and the car really pulls at 4000+. The accessory belt tensioners were replaced with Keystone powered coated units. The timing belt tensioner was also replaced. The alternator was replaced about 20K miles, starter about 5K miles, water pump during the rebuild (40K), oil and power steering pumps have not been replaced. The AC compressor is in unknown condition as the AC was deleted during the rebuild. Cruise control works. I have changed the oil between 3000-4000 miles, and only use Castrol GTX 5W30. All gaskets and seals were replaced at the rebuild (so 40K on them all). Engine mounts were also all replaced 40K ago.
Transmission/drivetrain
The clutch is a Clutchmasters Stage 1 that grabs at all RPMs. It has about 40K on it. Clutch pedal travel is good and shifting is as well. I had the transmission inspected prior to completing the rebuild and they said that it was in good shape, though the 1-2 synchros were a bit worn. It has Valvoline synthetic transmission oil in it. It is equipped with the ceramic throw-out-bearing from SHONUT. The passenger half shaft is a Raxles unit, the driver side is whatever SHOSource sells. The Raxles has 40K miles, the other has < 1K. The front wheel bearings were replaced within 5k miles.
Steering/Suspension
The rack was replaced (non-VAPS) during the rebuild (40K) as well as all of the tierod end. The front strut links are the rigid plastic kind, the rear are metal rods with TPR bushings. Not sure what the diameters of the anti-sway bars are. The bushings were replaced (black, neoprene?). The lower control arms were replaced. Struts, strut mounts and springs were replaced. All suspension work was done during the rebuild (40K miles on it all), with the exception of the driver side tie-rod end, which has under 1K miles. The tires are Fuzions with about 30K miles, but I'll have to double check that. Tread depth is good.
Brakes
All stock components (vented fronts, solid rears). All rotors were replaced during the rebuild (40K) and the rear calipers were all replaced. All four flexible brake lines were replaced. ABS works, and there are no codes.
Outside
It is virtually rust free, aside from a wrinkle in the passenger side rear quarter panel, above the taillight. All of the lenses are intact, and are in fairly good shape considering the year. There are no leaks when it rains (I live five miles S. of Seattle so I would know if it leaked), including the moonroof. The clearcoat has baked off, but the paint is intact (aside from the one spot mentioned earlier). It tracks straight and after an alignment is perfect. Some clips for the facscia below the headlights are missing. I have a NOS keypad for the driver side door that needs to be installed. The current one is hit or miss as to whether it will respond to the code. The rear taillights have been RTVed to the body since they had a habit of allowing water into the trunk. The fog lamps don't work currently (not sure why).
Inside
The inside was professionally reupholstered after I got the car running. The front seats were reupholstered with black leather on the sides and bolsters, and the center of the seats have perforated black vinyl. The rear bench was reupholstered with black vinyl. All leather surfaces are conditioned periodically with mink oil. There is some minor tearing in the leather on the passenger rear near the built-in headrest. There is also some minor tearing on the bolsters of the driver side front. The carpet is pristine except for right under the emergency brake. The steering wheel is wrapped in a black and gray Wheelskins. The headliner is in great shape, aside from a single cigarette burn above the driver side front door. All other surfaces are in good condition. The passenger side rear door lock does not actuate, and has to be operated manually (should have this fixed). The speaker covers have some broken studs and do not stay in place during hard driving. The passenger front door lock switch does not work currently.
The dash panel is in great condition. The EATC is a soft button but is in good shape. There is no AC however due to the plumbing being deleted. The BCM, blower and heater core were all replaced 40K miles ago. The clockspring was replaced. The interior/dash panel dimmer switch was replaced. The autolamps do not work consistently. The horn and cruise control work. The temp and gas gauge do not currently work, though I am investigating the former, and I have a replacement for the latter. There is one bulb out behind the left side of the tach, though it is still well lit. The gas door release works. The trunk release inside does not currently work. The moonroof works fine, and the switch was replaced with a Contour window switch. The stereo is an older Premier 550DEH, the front speakers are stock, the rear are Boston Acoustics Rally series 6x9. The stock amps never worked and are bypassed in the trunk with a harness. The speaker insulated cover hangers are gone, but I still have the covers. There is a spare tire and jack.
Like I said, I spent a lot of time with this car, and I can pretty much tell you anything you need to know about it. It is a project car that I do use as a daily driver but I just can't devote the time it needs to properly restore it, because that really was my end goal. If I manage to get an acreage, I'll take the ad down.
