When you say you fixed it you mean them? As there are two, have you check for codes yet?

lots of codes do not trigger the cel, but are stored to help you troubleshoot your problems. do yourself and us a favor and learn how to pull the codes and let us know what they are - then we can actually help you.

......and with that, this is the MOST helpful forum I have yet to find. Check those codes, they are a MAJOR indication of what to look for.

You don't need a helper to jump it, you can do it all by yourself. The KOEO (key on engine off) test is easy. Jump the connectors, get in the car, and turn on the ignition. Then just wait for the CEL (check engine light) to flash the codes. The KOER (key on engine running) test is a little more involved, but still pretty easy. All the info you need should be in that guide.

I have no idea. I've never bothered with a scanner. The paper clip method works just fine (if not better).

I know you are new here, so I'll cut you some slack, but please understand that once we give you a link to a site that tells you exactly how to do something, you will only annoy people by asking questions that are already answered at that link.

here is the link again:
http://www.shotimes.com/php-bin/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=article&mode=thread&order=0&thold=0&sid=83
and here is the link to decipher the codes:
http://www.shotimes.com/php-bin/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=article&mode=thread&order=0&thold=0&sid=84

Go there, read it, follow it, and report what the codes are. And, btw, even if your check engine light is burned out, it tells you how to read the codes anyway.

The shotimes article tells you exactly where they are.

To run the tests, you must locate the EEC-IV test connectors. In the '89-'95 Taurus SHO, these are in the engine compartment, right between the intake manifold and the firewall, next to the passenger-side strut tower. There are two connectors of interest: one is a 6-pin connector, and the other is a single pin connector. They may be stuck into a single grey plastic hood embossed with "EEC Test".

There are two 6-pin connectors in that area, one for the EEC (the one you want) and one for the ABS. You want the one closest to the single pin connector.

iac sits on top of the intake manifold just after the throttle body. buy a new one and put it on in place of the bad one. that should make your idle much improved.
