the gasket under the timing cover is not causing a leak. you might have a leak at the camshaft seals or at the crankshaft seal or both, but the timing cover gasket is just to keep debris out of the timing belt.

There are very few "easy jobs" on a SHO. This statement is based on your apparent knowledge of how to use a wrench, not so much. I'm not trying to criticize or embarrass you I'm just saying to own and maintain a SHO one should have a basic set of skills, or lots of money.

The SHOPheonix project site will tell and show you haw to do all these jobs, you should be able to determine if your up to these tasks. I suspect the amount of assistance one can expect around this forum is directly proportionate to how much you put into the understanding of the advice and your ability/courage to tackle these jobs. Again so you don't get your feelings hurt, this is just basic human/forum nature.

Either get in, read up, figure it out, get your hands dirty, or buy a newer car and get a better paying job so you can afford another mechanic to service your ride.

Sounds to me this SHO needs a 60/120k maintenance.

60/120k as follows:

* replace timing belt and accessory belts
* replace water pump & change water manifold o-rings & gaskets
* replace camshaft seals & crankshaft seal
* change crank position sensor
* valve adjustment
* change valve cover gaskets/plug well seals
* replace spark plugs/wires
* replace thermostat
* change coolant sensors gauge/computer
* inspect coolant hoses & change if necessary
* replace fuel filter/air filter
* oil change
* change coolant
* top off other fluids

Also it it has over 100k on the odometer you should change the rod bearings. Do all this and the SHO should be good to go another 75-100k miles.

Try to find someone in your area to do this that knows about SHO maintenance. Ask a lot of questions to make sure they do too.
