Rotating the cams

How do you go about rotating the cams during a weld?

Also, if a cam sprocket is loose, do you suggest I run a bead around the whole sprocket, or still just do 3 tacks?

put a breaker bar and socket on the crank bolt and rotate the engine.

Just put 2 welds on each cam 3/4" long 180deg apart.

crank bolt, meaning the bold that is attached to both of the main cam sprockets? (Newbie to all of this in the head and cams)

I'm planning on putting 3 tacks on each cam... but I read an article on V8SHO saying that he had a sprocket that moved and when he did 3 tacks on it, it break in just 50 miles.. so I need to be sure that the 3 tacks will hold on that.

No there is a bolt head on the end of the crank shaft, you can get to it through the passenger front wheel well. Rotate the cams by rotating that bolt with a socket and breaker bar. As for the sprockets they have a surface hardening so whoever welds the sprockets is going to need to be a decent welder and know how to get proper *********** between the sprocket and shaft. If that is acheived you will not need to worry about the weld breaking.

Okay. So, we do need to take the front passenger wheel off to rotate the cams. Damn! Thanks for the information, I was going to do it a totally different way, hah.
