Im took out my pioneer deck from my car so i can put it in my 93 SHO. I also got the wire harnesses to bypass the amps (car has the jbl system).
Well it all plugged in ok, but the right speakers wont play, at all. I checked the wires with a multimeter, and the rear right speaker harnerss has no connection when i bypass the amps and use my deck. Yet when i install my stock tape/cd player, all speakers play.
The stock unit makes a loud pop when changing the volume/bass/trebble controls, then either the right or left speakers will stop playing until you move the volume again, then it pops one more time and all speakers play again.
I didnt want to have to run my own wires from the deck to the speakers, but unless theres a somewhat easy fix for this, ill just have to do that.

Anybody have this happened before? searching didnt turn out many results on it.

Also, how much different is the install of an indash dvd than a regular aftermarket deck?

the speakers in my dad's 93 with premium sound range from all working :D to you're-lucky-if-one-will-work.. and yea, his makes a whole bunch of popping noises while you adjust the volume/bass/treb/etc...but all the speakers seem to want to work the higher you crank the volume, but who wants cruddy sound blaring at them while they're driving just to get 4 speaker sound :hpoop:

i'm currently using the amp bypass harness, and my right door speaker cuts out occassionally..usually for days on end..only to come on at the most innapropriate times!

now i just figured, in the case of my car, that water was getting in my door and shorting out the speaker (someone knocked my pass mirror, so it and the molding are about 1/4 inch seperated from the door panel)...but, after reading your post, i wouldnt be surprised that the audio wiring throughout this car is just junk!

dont forget about the infamous 2nd connector though. The speakers in these cars were dual wired..and tucked up in your dash behind the radio (mine was towards the drivers side of the dash-tied in place), is a second audio connector.. it already bypasses any amps..and just runs straight to your speakers.. you may want to try that connector..but i think you have to cut the end off and do all the splicing yourself to hook it up to even the OEM radio (and obviously, an aftermarket one)

good luck to you, hope you find out what's up

i think i know what harness youre talking about, its a black one. I saw a posted pic of it while i was doing a search, and it did say it bypasses the amps. The thing is, i couldnt find it. I found one that looksl ike it, but its already plugged in to something else. Well, if i dont find an answer in the next few days, im just gonna run my own new wires.

hmm... i dont want to sound dumb, but i couldnt find the harness.
So i just ran my own wires directly off the deck to the front right door, and a wire from the left rear speaker to the right rear. Its not the best solution, but itll have to do for now.
