I got a set of housings at the JY. They needed cleaned up inside and out. Here are a few pics of the process.

Thanks. They didn't come out perfect but a lot better than when I started. There are a couple things I will know for next time.

I want to get a few pairs, get them cleaned up and restored, then have them available for others that can not or choose not to do them on their own.

I want to do this with the 92 I just acquired.
How did you seperate the lens from the housing and reattach?

I used a heat gun with a variable heat setting. If you do this you have to be careful not to get the lens too hot. Others have used an oven set at 175 degrees Fahrenheit then let the whole thing get hot, until the lens pulls from the housing. I had a little bit of trouble with the heat gun. I will be trying the oven next time.

I used black super strength trim adhesive to put the lens back on the housing. I almost messed up as it can be runny. You really want to apply it to both pieces and let it sit until it is tacky.

I cut a piece of painters tape to the top and bottom of the lens on the inside, then used chrome paint with a few light coats to get a nice looking finish. It runs easy, so light coats are best.
