After a going-away party tonight for a co-worker, I was pulling out of the mall parking lot where I work. I noticed a new red Corvette driving on the main street and turning into the parking lot. The driver and passenger both looked at my car and then pulled over a ways behind me. I drove to the stoplight where the parking lot exits to the main road and the Vette sat there letting me go ahead of him. He gets beside me at the light. There were 2 cars in front of us. I look over and there's 2 guys in the car.
I look back and the one guy's waving over at me.
I rolled my window down and said hey. The passenger asks "Is that thing quick?" I look his car from front to back and said "It's not a 'Vette!" Then the driver said "Your car looks sweet! Isn't that a Roush sticker on the back of your car?" I said yeah, I only had their lowering springs. I told him I had basic bolt-ons, intake, exhaust, etc. I told him there aren't too many performance mods for my year SHO. Then the passenger said "Hey, but it's a V8 SHO, and those things are fast!" Then the light turned green and they turned off.
I thought it was cool. His car was definitely modded. It had at least lowering springs and exhaust. It was a C5 Vette, not sure what year. Cool guys though. If I had a car like that I'd be the same way. I wouldn't put down other cars. thumbs_u

Oh, and to make things better, I wasted a Dodge Avenger ES after that. That kid deserved it, though. wink

It's too bad most mechanics in the San Antonio area don't know what a SHO is, If they did, I'd have my pulleys on by now!

Yeah Wuzzzer I think most guys who drive performance cars appreciate these V8 SHOs. I even get many comments from car wash guys and just about every oil change brings about a discussion of the 32 valve engine. Although it is surprising that when I went to replace a lug nut a couple of weeks ago the parts guy glanced at my car and and thought it was a Contour! I still do not think he knows what the V8 SHO is...that was kind of a downer.

Being a vette owner and constantly around other vette guys, I found that most everyone respects the SHO.

In fact, there was a survey on the corvetteforum about past vehicles a while back. It was amazing how many vette owners used to own or currently owned SHOs.

Sadly, I just sold mine so the vette will be my only performance car. But still, a nice looking V-8 SHO will always catch my eye.
