Replacing valve cover gaskets anything else while I got them off?

Going to be replacing my valve cover gaskets soon but while I have them off is there anything else I should replace,check or adjust?

Yes, check the valve clearances with a feeler gauge, and if any are out of spec., replace them with new shims. The valve clearance chart is stickied on this subforum. You'll need some special tools to check/adjust the valves.

Also change the spark plugs while you're in there. Clean your intake as well while you have it off.

How are your cam seals? Check the rear cam seal, if its leaking its much easier to change with a ***** engine. Spark plug wires come to mind. Check all the little coolant hoses around the throttle body to see if they havent gotten soft or ready to split, also check the coolant hoses going to the heater core. How old is your thermostat? I could probably keep going but these are some of the items that have bitten me in the ass, as I think to myself "Why didnt I change that when I had the intake off"

Replace the ground wire that attaches to the body from the rear cylinder head.
