Replacing the Axels

Does anyone have a procedure on replacing the drive axels? Is it a PITA? I have a torn boot and it's actually easier just to replace the axel. I got a price of 82 for the left one.

Ok, let me narrow this down a bit. Is there a special procedure(tools) to get the halfshaft out of the tranny?

Well, if you put your e-mail in then I could send you the book procedure, which requires some special tools. Mostly there not necessary though. It can be a pain in the ass and you might be better off letting someone do it.

Just tried to edit my profile but it wouldnt let me do it. I have the book but the procedures suck. I was hoping for tips from someone who has done it.

Hi smcallis,

If you still need the info, the axles will pop-out when you pry on them. No "special" tool needed, except your favorite does-it-all pry bar.
Same way going back in, just needs a couple of gentle "luv taps" with a mallet if my memory serves me right. I did this about 6 years ago.
