Oil Sending Until

And an Oil Sending Until would be?...............

If you are referring to the oil pressure sending unit, I don't believe there is a need to drain any oil as it's location is above the oil pan.

If you are referring to the oil level sender, unless your oil is low, then yes, you will either drain oil via the oil drain plug or the removed sender.

Any other questions?

Oil Sending Until

Ok, let's try this again...

The V6 SHO motor has 2 (that would be TWO) oil sending units/sensors (what is an Oil Sending Until?).

There is an Oil Level Sender, which as the name describes triggers the yellow "Check Oil" light when the oil level in the pan falls below a certain level; and there is an Oil Pressure Sender which as the name describes triggers the red "Oil" light when the oil pressure falls below a certain pressure.

These are two completely separate sensors/senders, with two completely separate functions, installed in two completely separate places on the motor.

Again, please let us know WHICH ONE you need/want to replace so that we can provide you with the most accurate and helpful information!

Instead of everybody nitpicking why don't we all just play nice and do it this way. I mean it's one extra similar part that we can confuse it with, so let's just describe both parts. It's not as if he asked us how to replace a gasket without telling us which. There are only two oil senders, both of which are easy to replace and describe how to replace.

Oil level sender: This sendor is located in the rear of the oil pan aproximately in the center about 6 inches up. Since it determines the level of the oil in the pan oil typically is above this level. The oil will have to be drained to replace this sensor.

Oil Pressure Sender: This sender is located above and slightly to the left (towards the drivers side) of the level sender. It is located on the block and has a single wire attached to it. For replacement of this sensor the oil will not need to be drained.

I See

My fault as I read your answer's I see I was saying sending instead of pressure or level. I'm sorry it Oil Pressure Sender (the one with the red light) that I want to replace.

Again sorry for the confusion and thanks for the help.

For all the views there were only a few replies.

Thanks :hail: :finger:

Ok then, as Mikey said, you will not need to drain the oil to change the oil pressure sender, although I'd recommend waiting until the car is cold to do it since you might get some residual oil dripping out and making a mess if you do it when the car is warm. Other than that, it's a pretty straightforward item to change out. Just be careful when removing the wire, as they can sometimes sieze on to the post of the sender and pull apart when removing. Give it a couple of good twists first and pull it off by holding the boot firmly.

Now What?

Ok now that I found out where the Oil Pressure Unit is can someone tell me how to get it out?
You can see it from underneath, between the oil pan and tranny pan.
Can't get my hand over the back of the tranny either.
Can not get my hand thru their to reach it let alone a tool.
Can see it from top samething.
Pulled drivers tire off, can't see nor reach it.

So anybody with a 1993 ATX that done this before.....?

Anyway's Thanks for your help!

from under the car, its very easily accessible. while you can buy the oil pressure socket, ive always used my channel locks without a problem.

You may have to drop the y-pipe to do it on an ATX. I've never replaced an ATX oil pressure sender in the car, and haven't really paid attention to the accessibility when under the car. If I have a chance tomorrow I'll take a look for you.

I did manage to do mine from the top ('95 ATX), but it was a TIGHT squeeze. I used Vice-Grips to loosen it.

From Top

Ok but what did you have to move. I can see mine from the top as well as bottom, but there is no way to get to it without moving anything.

So I'm looking for the easiest way to do it myself.

Thanks

I unplugged a few wires if I remember right. Even then, it was tough to get at. Like everything else on the SHO, there just isn't an easy way to do it!
