I need to replace both o2 sensors.
Or at least that is what I THINK I need to do. I really need a full 100k done but do not have the money until next month for that. But I am supposed to drive to Denver this weekend, and my car is getting really crappy milage right now, and I know the O2's have been needing done...I am sure that is what is hurting milage. Any tips, hints, tricks, or things that I need to be aware of?

Just out of curiosity what has made you think you need to replace the O2's? You might want to test them before you waste money on new ones.

prior to giving the car to my in laws for a few months, I had AutoZone or someone like that pull codes for me. They said the o2's were bad. I was going to replace and then I had to give up the car. I used to get like 23 mpg...now my inlaws said that they were only getting like 14 or 15 mpg. So that is why I am thinking o2. I can stop again today and have to codes pulled again...The check engine light comes on and off...does not stay on.

Actually, O2 sensors are like spark plugs. They DO have a limited life. For about $100, you can purchase both. ****, that's cheaper than plugs and wires, and will cure several driveability issues. I concur though, make sure they are throwing a code, or you may replace them for no reason. FYI, they are one of the more common reasons for failing emissions tests.

I dont have to worry about emmisions out here. The let us pollute as much as we watn I guess. Not enough people to be bothered by it...hahaha.

Anyways, I will go down, pull codes, and post codes on here, and we will see if that still acts like my problem.

For the record, if you do decide to replace your O2 sensors, have a look here for some intructions on how to do it. For some reason, the right hand margin on that page covers some of text, so just highlight the whole article and paste it into Word or something similar and you should be able to read it properly. :thumb:

If you pull your codes and recieve one for both O2's, there's a chance that the problem lies elsewhere and the O2's are informing you of a lean or rich condition, not a bad O2 sensor.

ahh yea and if you have the factory ford o2 sensors don't even bother buying a O2 socket it doesn't fit them just use a wrench or anything you can to get to it and make sure you put stands under your car when you are under there. The O2 sensors arn't a biggie to replace really. I did mine liek 3 or 4 days ago.
