Tomorrow Im replacing the stock transmission cooler with an oversized tranny cooler. Its a hayden transmission 'kit' that I picked up at Advance, it's supposed to have all parts needed to replace it.

Is there anything I need to keep in mind when doing it? It seems semi-straight foreward, but I dont want to get halfway into it, and get stuck. Is there any DIY for this? I tried a search, but it didnt return much.

Thanks.

I don't think you need anything special. Make sure the line inputs and outputs are of the same size.

Post some pics of the job! thumb

keep in mind that the 94+ ATX has a cooler bypass line on it for when the car is cold.

This is to prevent the fluid from becoming to thick and hinder flow though the transmission. Cold fluid also prevents the torque converter from locking up.

I havent looked under the car as of yet about this cooler bypass line. Is it something I might accidently mess up? Or is it pretty much connecting two lines together?

I would add the new one to the existing OEM coolers. No sense taking steps backward. Also beware of using barbed hose splices as they will reduce the effective diameter of the hose from 3/8" to ~5/16". I use short pieces of 3/8" ID copper tubing for splices, there are barbed PEX water tube fittings that work well too.
