Hey, I just got some new front tires and Autotire told me that my front engine mount needs some attention. He said it's the hardest one to get to and that I should probably just have Ford do it because he didn't even want to do it. Does anybody know just how hard it is to replace this mount or how much the new mount would cost or how much it would cost to have someone replace the mount? Thanks.

I have the same problem.
I have an ATX.

If hes talking about the hardest one to get to, that would be the rear mount, which is a B*tch. It requires lowering the rearward part of the subframe to make enough room the remove the mount.

Front mounts are a sinch. I can change an ATX front mount in well under 45 minutes, Probably because Ive broken so many of the damn things though.

All I can say is...If its a rear mount, I am incredibly sorry.

If its an MTX you DO NOT have to lower the subframe for either. I did both, and it was very easy.

it really isnt that hard to lower the subframe. if you take your time its not that bad. motor mounts were the second thing i did to my car when i got it. it was my first time doing anything on an a SHO took me a few hours.

Wow....I've changed more motor mounts on my old 92 than I care to think about and I never once lowered the subframe........

Your right it is easy to lower it .... but its even easier to not do it at all , and on an MTX you don't have to. its just a waste of time! It dosent make it any easier.

Try installing some fresh reinforced mounts without lowering the subframe ;)

With a stiff front mount, dropping the rear of the subframe as well as jacking up the rear of the motor to install a rear mount is VERY helpful.

And I would much rather drop the rear of the subframe than unbolt the front motor mount and have to fight getting it re-aligned. Much easier to drop the rear of the subframe IMO.
