Has any heard of replacing these lights with 168 for the purpose of being brighter? What would this effect?

They are brighter abnd have a shorter life.

Here's the specs on different lamps with the small wedge base and same size bulb.

Trade No. Design Volts Watts Amps Avg. CP Life
161 14.0 2.66 0.19 1 4000
158 14.0 3.36 0.24 2 3000
194 14.0 3.78 0.27 2 2500
192 14.0 4.62 0.33 3 2000
168 14.0 4.90 0.35 3 1500

If you want even brighter light go to the 912 size. The wedge base is the same but the bulb is 3 times as big. Wattage is up around 7 or so.
