Is there any type of replacement transmission that we could possibly use? Like something with more available rebuild parts and better power handling? I can't believe this is the best transmission available for the car. I'm going to rebuild mine at some point (it grinds...) but I'd really like to replace it with something else. At minimum I'll put in a rod shifter and new clutch, but I no longer trust this transmission at all...

We are stuck with the MTX-IV. While it shifts like crap, the gearset is pretty stout and can handle about 300lb/ft before 3rd gear goes south. The best thing you can do is replace the weak differentail with a quaife ATB to eliminate diff pin ejection while you are rebuilding it.

thats a good point

i picked up mine forsteal @ 600 can. but the guy that i bought it from drove it like he stole it , i new there would be trans issues . the 2nd day i had it the diff pin had let go ...............what a drag..........I lived in windsor ont. right across the river from Detriot , the only half decent price i could find on a trans was chris from BITTERSWEETSHO @ 400 US . ( in conneticut )

the diff pin " grenaded" the trans , there were holesall threw it ,looking in to the Quafie but @ 1200 u s i gotta save my nickels

also burn outs are not good , the previous owner " my buddie " use to melt the tires on that thing all the time .......but for the $ i got into it . She runs good
