A little while back I replaced my sub with the JL Audio 6W0-4 after some research here. I'd like to get a little more out of it by replacing the factory sub amp. I'm relatively naive when it come to car audio systems, but I'm just fine with cars and electronics in general. Everything else in the system is stock and I'd like to keep it that way, especially the factory head unit. I'm not looking for an award winning system, just something that has a little more bass when I want it, and is cheap and drop in or close to it.

I used a Scosche LOC2SL on my 5.9 Grand as I didn't want to lose my steering wheel controls. It is a RCA line output converter. It takes the stock input and converts it to RCA's and has a sub volume control. I picked it up at my walmart in the car audio section. It was $20 IIRC.

That's only a woofer replacement, you will need a better amp as you have found.

If you want to replace the sub amp only, then you will have to do a little research and re-wire a few things.

The 4-channel amp already supplies the sub amp with a signal, and power is already there for the sub amp as well. If you get a little creative with the wiring, you can replace the sub amp and re-use the wiring.

I'm at work so I'll give more details later.
