If the motor is running but, the antenna does not move then you can just replace the mast itself. The instructions are on SHOtimes here is the link:

As far as if a 97 fits into a 93 I am not sure, maybe one of the other members knows. E-mail me if you have any questions.
This was on of the first repairs on my SHO that I did when I first bought it, and it was a fairly easy to do.

You can use a Metra GM replacement mast for a Corvette. Part #CK-PWRGM301. I got mine at Pepboys for around $12. It works great. The Taurus part # is 44-PWRFD260. I couldn't find that one locally.
