Well i replaced the t stat and the car is still a lil bit too hot when driving city. It gets to the "R" and "O" on the temp gage. I read about the two sensors that can have went bad? THE FANS COME ON, thats not the problem. What other things could it be?

Well, just because your fans come on doesn't mean that they are coming on at the right time. If the ECT sensor is not registering properly it will turn the fans on too late, letting the motor getting hotter than it should - so just because they turn on, doesn't mean that the sensor is working correctly. Also, the gauge sender may not be sending an accurate signal to the dash.

It is also possible that your fans are not doing a very good job and are wearing out.

Is your radiator clean? Inside and out? The outside fins can become clogged with dirt, road grime, and the such rendering it not very useful in heat transfer, taking it out and hosing it out can clean all that out and make quite a difference. The inside can also get caked up causing a similar problem.

The factory guage is not very accurate. Therefore, use an infared temp gun, to make sure is't not overheating. Your guage sounds about right for summer driving.

1) Replace temp sender for gauge every time you replace the T-stat (my rule of thumb).
2) Verify fan activation at X letter on gauge
3) If you have access to a pyrometer as mentioned, great help in this situation
4) The Motorcraft Engine Coolant Temp Sensor is <$30 at Rock, but is available aftermarket at AZ, etc. Relatively easy replacement. Had a customer's car running hot, turned out to be this sensor.

Can someone tell me where the temp sender for the gage is located as well as the Engine coolant Temp sensor??

Ok, you got the thermostat. To the left of the thermostat is the guage sender, it has one wires coming off of it. To the right of the thermostat you have the ECT sensor, it has about 3 wires coming off of it....that's about it.
