If you remember my previous post "would a bad CPS..." So, my symptoms are occasional long cranks, backfire through intake while cranking, and engine binding while cranking. My CID was only 6k old and it was agreed that it was my prob. I replaced it and it made no change what so ever. Once my car is started it runs fine, and it will start hot fine and start cold fine. I wanted to get this prob fixed before it goes to the body shop in a week to get fixed (got rearended  ) So, I'm trying to pick all your brains again and see if we can possible find a solution to this. Thanx for all your help.

I know that it is plugged in and that it works because when I first installed it, it wasn't plugged in all the way ( I thought it was) and I took it out for a drive. It was fine till I put the slightest load on the engine, then the tach started bouncin the engine was missing like crazy and the CE light came on so I went back home (babied it) and duh plugged it in all the way.
Other than that I don't know what you mean by verify the CID wiring. Could this possibly be a bad DIS module, or my original question CPS? Thanx

SHOooo, I was just rereading my previous post (would a CPS) and you mentioned that my acual plug might be bad (that plugs into the CID) how can I test that. Is it more likely the DIS module maybe? I really appreciate all the help I am getting on this :) . Thanx

Easiest way to verify the wiring/connector would be to look at ckt in the EVTM manual and use a multimeter to check the leads from end-to-end.

DIS or coil pack would seem unlikely suspects to me since both will usually generate fault codes, and both would exhibit problems while running, not just when starting. (I'm assuming you're still not seeing ANY codes?) Again, while the PCM rarely fails, if you're not generating any codes (including forcing a code as I suggested in another thread), that could also be the culprit.

SHOooo, what is an EVTM manual, and what would the ckt in it tell me. I have the Helms manual is that what you are referring to? I just replaced my 02 sensors about 3k ago, because of my CE light, and running rich, so I know that it can generate codes and hold them. So, my PCM is a culprit, how much $ do those go for?

EVTM = Electrical and Vacuum Troubleshooting Manual. It is a separate manual from the Helms manual. It contains the schematics of the electrical systems.

You need to verify the operation of each item associated with starting the engine individually to verify proper operation, etc. so that you can isolate the source of your problem. Just because the PCM gave you codes 3K miles ago doesn't mean that it's still working 100%, or that there isn't an electrical/wiring problem somewhere. Again, try forcing a code by running with the MAF disconnected until a CEL is fired and check for the code. If the CEL fires and a code is stored, the PCM is likely OK. Double-check every connector, wire, and ground between the PCM, CID, DIS, coil pack, CCRM, etc. etc. etc. I don't recall from your earlier threads if you addressed the IAB/IAC valve yet, but that's another item to check.

Thank you very much for that, I will go over my engine, and recheck every connection. My IAB I replaced 300 miles ago, to help this condition. So, yes it has been addressed. Thank you for your help. It excites me to know that sometime in the near future my car will start and run perfect. I have owned it for a year exactly 3 days ago, and have put 13k on it and haven't had it perform perfect yet. Thanx again.
