My 89 is not running right told could be either the cats are plugged up and needs y pipe replaced or the fuel pump is shot. I dont know where to hook up a code reader, let alone if a code will show up for either of these problems. Been told by wife to sell for 1200 or bo...which sounds like the way to go? Have put 2600 in her over the last year, any ideas, or anyone interested in an 89 mtx SHO, with all the hard stuff replaced, and expensive stuff done except for valve adjustment.

A bad Y-pipe will definitely keep your car from not running right. But how exactly is it not running right? If the fuel pump is bad, you'll hear it. A loud whining/hum from the vicinity of the trunk.

On your SHO, the EEC test connector should be on the passenger side of the engine bay, up by the firewall behind the strut tower. It consists of an empty plug with a small, single-plug thing hanging beside it. I don't know the pinout from memory, but SHOTimes.com has a section on jumpering the test connector and reading the codes from the Check Engine light (it flashes the codes).

If you do decide to sell it, though, make sure it goes to someone who will know what they are getting and will take care of it.

ohio is for hustlers
Well I have two problems, NEITHER of which is the money unfortunately. The first one is that my parents don't want me getting another car, and understandably so, but I really don't care too much what they think, I wouldn't be putting my life into the car. The second problem is that I am at school right now, and don't get home until Nov 22. You said you needed to sell it by the 10th of Nov, so that works against me as well. I'm thinking though, but don't wait for me, best of luck selling, but if I'm interested I will be sure to get in touch with you.

Glad you were tempted....wife is main reason I am selling, the other is being in school and having no time between studies and work...and all the money for my books and tuition is killing me

Sorry guys, a deposit was left for the car, and I have to honor that. If by chance the deal falls through, I will notify you. Hated to sell it but, just can't afford the car anymore.
