push down and in on both sides of the bottom part, one side at a time. its easier with two people. once thats out, the bolts for the top piece can be seen, along with all kinds of interesting stuff that worked its way under the seat over the years. Just unbolt the top piece and pop it out. shouldnt take more than a couple mins.

I found a bit over 4 dollars, a bunch of sunflower seeds, and a few business cards the first time I removed mine

Checking for cool and interesting crap under the back seat is always my favorite part about getting a new used car.

BTW, the seat weighs next to nothing and won't gain you much. :naughty:

When I go to the strip, I leave the front seat, rear seat, floor mats, and trunk carpet at home. I pull the spare out when I get to the track.

For the rear seat the bottom section is where most of the weight is. The back is pretty light weight-wise. Since I have a fuel cell and a battery in the trunk in the Pumpkin I've left the rear seat back in (for a barrier) and taken the bottom out.

Any seat with electric doo-dads in it is heavy. The driver's seat is a freakin' boat anchor. The passenger seat in the pumpkin is all manual, no electric stuff, and weighs not much more than a race seat. Once I get Sparco to figure out how to ship the right hardware with their seats I'll be taking the driver's seat out, but I'm happy to leave the manual, reasonably light passenger seat in place. The typical SHO passenger seat with the electric adjustments is fairly heavy.

I was surprised how much the floor carpet, insulation, etc., weighs. Yikes!
