Ok, ive done alittle research and cant find exactly what i need. How the **** do it get these dan shafts off. I unbolted both axel nuts and the mount on the motor. How to i get them all the way out of the tranny? they slide out of the tranny alittle bit, but i cant get them the rest of the way. Any tips and or pictures would be a great help!! Thanks.

it looks like the boots are comressed as far as they will go and it not enough play. SO your telling my i dont need to unbolt anything to remove the shafts besides the mount to the motor on the passenger side?

There are circlips holding each axle in the tranny. The driver side is a little harder to pop out than the passenger side.

On the passenger side you remove from the knuckle and tap with a hammer and screwdriver on the body of the axle near the carrier bearing.

On the driver side you remove from the Knuckle and pop it out with a pry/crow bar inserted between the body of the axle and the tranny. This is based upon my recollection.

Ok, i am royaly stumped on how to get these things out. I know it seems elementary to you guys, but i cant figure it out. What im going to end up doing is unbolting the tir-rod, control arm, sway bar and that torsion bar type thing going towards the front of the motor. If you can get some pictures it would make this removal thing SO much easier. Thanks all

You don't have to do all that stuff. You have the axle nuts off. Firmly hit the end of the axle stub (the protrusion from which you removed the axle nuts) with a three pound hammer. After a hit, or few hits, the axle will pop out of the knuckle. Then follow the directions I've set forth above. If you have $20.00 or so the ShoNut clutch video shows how to remove the axles along with a lot of other things. It's well worth the money.

Just disconnecting the knuckle from the LCA (by removing the pinch bolt and popping the LCA out of the bottom of the knuckle) should allow enough movement to get slack on the driveshaft. The idea is to swing the knuckle off the end of the driveshaft.

I wouldn't recommend pounding on the end of the shaft protruding through the knuckle, since it's not hard to bloom/mushroom that dude so that you'll never get a nut on it again (don't ask me how I know that).

Spray a lot of your favorite penetrating oil (WD-40, PB-Blaster, whatever) on the shaft in the knuckle and keep working it. A gear puller on the hub will push the knuckle and shaft apart if it still doesn't cooperate (although that's how I detonated my $6 Harbor Freight gear puller).

Take nut off of ball joint at spindle (aka knuckle). Disconnect sway bar link from spindle. Disconnect tie rod end from spindle. Use a long pry bar to separate ball joint at bottom from the spindle assembly. Don't tear the rubber boot. The spindle is now free to swing. On passenger side, remove 2 bolts holding driveshaft carrier bearing. Driveshaft will now slide right out of the transmission. Have wire ready to wire it up so it does not drop and kink CV joint. Driver side is similar except no carrier bearing on driveshaft. A cir-clip holds the axle into the transmission. Put gloves on, grab axle at transmission. Brace feet. Shake and pull, cuss, shake and pull, cuss, repeating until clip gives up and axle comes out of transmission.

Hint - Keep a digital camera nearby and take lots of pictures as you move along. Makes reassembly WAY easier !!
