Since I just bought a mini-van last week, eek! I am now not to worried about the sound of my car (interior/exterior). So I want to make it louder. I just put in my 12 mtx sub that I had sitting around and I want more HP and sound!!

QUESTION: who/where can do the third cat. A muffler shop or what. And does it just get replaced by straight pipe?? I cant imagine it would cost too much, lend me some feedback please

:D

Mike, since you're down in the Twin Cities area I'd get in touch with Courtney Truck Services. Mike Courtney is the owner. He's a true SHO expert.
I do believe most people are just replacing the 3rd cat with a straight pipe.

That sounds great! Thanks wuzzzer. I have tried to get work done there before but there was a long wait to get it done. I was actually thinking about having them listen to my engine and see if it is making any cam failure noises. This hole cam failure episode is freeking me out. eek! I am in no way prepared to deal with cam failure, all though I do have a warranty.HMMM, Warranty+SHOshop=great car. I may have to call them and see if they do work through NAPA waranties. (that is of course if I ever have a problem)

I want sound and more performance!!

How much more sound is it going to make removing the third cat? I already have Magnaflows on and it's pretty loud already. Plus, will it pass an emissions test?

If Courtney won't do it...let me know. You'll have to drive to Faribault but I'll hook you up with a great mechanic who did my 3rdcatectomy.

Its technically illegal but some mechanics will do it.

You'll get a bit more noise...but it'll add HP in the upper rpm range...making it more powerful at higher speeds.

It also sounds better IMHO :)

Shouldn't have any problems with emmissions. Just don't touch the first two cats where the O2 sensors are.

Mike,
Let me know where/when you decide to have it done. I'm thinking of doing the same. Maybe we can get a 2 for 1 special. thumbs_u

Wuzzzer, let's take a trip down to Fairbult and get it done by Marks Mechanic. That would take care of two things, getting car modded, and hanging out with some SHO buddies. Mark (lastsho)I am going to be accepting your invite thumbs_u and Wuzzzers coming to. So get the grill ready and feed us some damn food already! Let us know when would be a good time.
By the way, could you technically arrest yourself for doing that to your car??

Just give me a weeks notice or so and I'll set up the appointment with him.

And I'll fire up the grill.

As far as arresting myself...I have no idea what your talking about wink

well technically, it's not listed as a third cat, but as a muffler, so as long as you show the part number along with the description to a mechanic, you can get them to take it out. I think most will anyway, since you still have the other two. It's not like you're removing the emissions system.
