ok heres the skinny, i think my water pump is going south. over heating with out heat ever getting to the heater core. also my ac 60% removed. all that is left is the compesser, and half the hoses. my question is if im changing my water pump would that be the time to take off the ac compresser so i can spin less accessories, and shave off about 10lbs. but with where the tesioners are im not sure if you can do this. if you can how long of a belt? im going to look up my 60K tune-up to see if i changed my CPS. im at 90k. sould i do the timing belt? it has 35k on it. im trying to sell the car, so i dont want to fix whats not broken (why would i bother with the ac? lol)

and one more question, are there any type of resticters or spacers inline with the heater hoses? i found a part of the gound after i was working on them last. i hope this is why my sho is over heating, and not a bum water pump. thanks. sry for being long winded

Yes, I found a restrictor the portion of the rubber hose to metal pipe junction on one of the heater hose/pipes. I ditched it when I went replacing the rubber hose when it started leaking at the factory crimp connection. That restrictor isn't going to be the root of any problem. My car heated and the engine cooled just fine when the car was brand new, thank you.

I doubt the water pump is causing your heating problem. I've only heard of one case where the water pump vanes had corroded off. If the pump's 'a spinnin' then you can be 99% sure that it's moving coolant. Most likely cause of problems, clogged radiator. If you're not getting heat in the passenger compartment then clogged heater core is a strong possibility. :( Also a new thermostat is probably in order. I would run some really strong cooling system cleaner through to try to restore the heater core to useable levels. You really don't want to have to go replacing that demon unless it's leaking. It's a bitch. After that I would consider getting a new radiator to restore the cooling system. Replace the thermostat and any old cooling hoses while you're at it. I did all that last summer in addition to replacing the leaky water pump. Don't have to worry about my cooling system for a while now. thumb
